Ugh. Bad vision day. Everything is a bit "off", a bit fuzzy. My eyes are exceedingly dry and annoying. I'm certainly to blame for this state, since I stayed up into the wee hours of the morning last night playing with nmh and procmail. Regardless, this sucks. New conclusion about email and the use of Ben's server, nerp.net: quota's suck. Understandably so, Ben needs to put his users in check as to how much disc they use. He's providing a free service to his friends and family and paying for it out of his own pocket. His reason for doing so was something like, "I'm going to have this server anyway; it won't cost me any _more_ to let my friends benefit from it." I've certainly thanked him for the service in the past, and I'll continue to do so in the future. Perhaps I should put a "hosted by" clause at the bottom of my web pages. It's starting to look like my vision is going to stabalize again soon. I've got the monitor tweaked up to 800x600 on a virtual 1024x768 so that I can see the fonts without squinting. Back to email. I'm going to have to cook up a way to receive the daily emails at his server, and download the archives to my home computer each night. I've already used the hard-linking that procmail can do in order to file email off into separate folders for easier browsing, but that's not enough for space saving or archiving. Ah, I've got it. Folders for each day of the week. Use procmail to copy each message that comes in, but leave them on the spool for download with fetchmail from my home machine. Process any "mail daemon" commands at ben's computer that can be processed, and process the rest on my workstation at home. Yeah, that'll work. Don't you like watching how a geek's brain works while he's typing his .plan? Anyway, take it easy today. ^chewie
