Wow, it's been since the 14th of March since my last ~/.plan update. So, what has been going on in my life. This weekend was an armoring weekend. Gep and I worked on getting him armored up with his own equipment for Tuesday's practice, and I made a new set of elbow pads (finally). I have to say that Tristan's pattern for "arms" works exceptionally well. They're made out of hardened leather, leather that has been shaped and then baked with perafin wax, in four pieces. Two for the elbow, one for the vambrace, and one for the rarebrace (upper arm). Gep made a kidney/waist belt, using Tristan's as a pattern, and a belt harness for a pair of "legs" (knee cop and cuisse -- thigh). He used my gorget (neck protection) to create his own, with a simple modification of adding a taller front and back plate. That is the one thing that usually fails for me during armor inspection. I added a cloth/quilted "bishop's mantle" to my helm before Armorgeddon last year because of it. I don't believe that's the correct term, but it'll suffice for now. Anyway, things are looking up for practice on Tuesday. Gep will be in mostly his own armor except for having to borrow guantlets, Tristan's legs, a helm, and weapons. I made the comment to Jen, "I'm jealous. he's been equipped in a weekend what took me years to do!" It just goes to show that who you know sometimes helps out greatly. ;-) I think tonight will be a "weapon smithing" night. I need a new sword and polearm for tomorrow, especially a polearm (or two). I'd love to make a couple spears before war season begins, a 9.5 and a 12 footer would be nice. I started a new batch of "Northwestern Amber" on Saturday. It's happily bubbling away downstairs. I may have to transfer it to the secondary tonight or tomorrow before practice. It all depends upon how active it looks today. It doesn't hurt to leave it in the primary fermenter for an extra day, in case I need to wait until Wednesday to get to it. Meghan made a great spaghetti last night. Like a dork, I was late, so I'll be making up for it for the bulk of the forseeable future. ;-) Anyway, time to get to work. Later! ^chewie
