Documentation. It's a godsend when you need it and a curse when you're obligated to write it. The goal for the next week is to brain-dump as much as I can on many topics, mostly related to systems adminitration. More importantly, I need to write convincing documentation on our database project, and why we made the choices we did. We've run into yet another PHB who knows enough about technology to potentially be dangerous to development decisions. I don't him that well, so the most I can do is speculate and worry. He seems reasonable enough, so if he's given sound basis for the decisions we've made, I'm pretty sure he'll listen. Anyway, the rest of my week will involve lots of typing. ;-/ Not so much coding, and some tech support. Both of my co-workers are out of the office for the next couple of days. It's a good thing this is supposed to be a slow week. On to other things. This weekend was pretty nice. The RennFest was fun as usual, though I'm in dire need of new garb. The next two weeks will be dedicated to that pursuit. Perhaps a kilt or two, a tunic or laine (big tunic), and fixing my guilles (shoes). (Caution, my spelling is awful.) Of course, this is all very Scottish in design, and thusly not very Norse. I'll be looking for Norse patterns and suitable fabric to use as well. That's the kicker. Fabric. What is an "acceptable" substitute for linen. The "linen" used today is a poly-rayon blend, which is fine. As long as it looks the part, I don't mind. Plus, I don't want to spend lots of money on fabric only to screw up on sewing it together. It's a good thing that "great kilts" are easy to make -- a rectangle of fabric four to six yards in length and about 48 to 60 inches wide (I think). I'd love to get my hands on some leatherworking materials, including some good leather. The Twin Cities no longer has leather supply stores, unfortunately. A friend of mine actually drives down to Illinois for supplies at "The Leather Shop/Store". That's a bit far for me. Maybe they have on-line ordering. [...break to help someone out...] See what I mean about tech support. Oh well. This last one was fun, though. I enjoy helping people who really want to learn or at least find things interesting enough to ask questions. ;-) Anyway, it's lunch time and I'm starved. I'm outta here. Have a good one!
