This is my first update in about a month, so you could say I've been slacking off a bit. Unfortunately, this update doesn't bring great news. Our a four year old short-haired tabby, Eta, is sick. I dropped her off in the caring hands our vet in hopes that she can be weaned back to health. She's terribly dehydrated and jaundiced. We suspect that she hasn't been eating, and she's been "hiding" for the last few days. She was so weak this evening when I brought her in that it was heart breaking. Prognosis at this point excludes feline leukemia -- the Doc just phoned me with the results: negative -- and is likely a result of her simply not eating. She's a bit overweight, and I was informed tonight that when an overweight cat fasts -- for whatever reason, illness or otherwise -- they run into danger of "fatty liver disease". The bile passages in the liver get blocked with fat as the body tries to break down the fat cells for fuel. The end result is one sick cat. We don't know if she's going to make it, but if she can survive during this next week of treatment, she'll likely pull through. Cross your fingers. She's a newer addition to our little family, but she's very important to us. Anyway, that's enough depressing news for the day. Later, ^chewie
