I can't believe how tired I am today. I just want to nap. Work has been the same ol' thing. Install software. Read email. Fix server misconfigurations. Try to remember to log it all. I've got a paper due today that I'll probably be working on for the rest of the night. It's a task list for the projects we have to look forward to at CBSCS. I love writing papers, don't you? One project I'm looking forward to is getting LDAP PAM authentication up and running on atp.cbs.umn.edu. The server is running right now, but I don't have any accounts added, the filesystem has yet to be allocated for home directories, share directories, or the website. (Good thing the server is LVM'ed.) We need to set up SAMBA, Netatalk, and NFS. Kerberose would be awesome, but not something I really have the time for right now. Who knows. Maybe I should make the time anyway. We have the ever-present desire for the "unified login" on campus here, but OIT won't get their act together and form a SIG to implement it. Imagine a Kerberized LDAP network for the entire U. Central file storage, central email that's more than 10MB in space. I really think that OIT is behind the net on this one; waiting to see how the ice plays out. IMHO, it's a bad tactic. Oh well. Time to get back to work. ^chewie
